Business Blockchain EXPO 2020 Autumn

CTIA Event Report

On September 26, 2020, BUSINESS BLOCKCHAIN EXPO 2020 Autumn, a business matching event hosted by Binary Star, was held at Kirarito Ginza in Ginza, Tokyo, and CTIA’s CEO, Mr. Tezuka spoke online at the event.

During a 20-minute speaker session, he explained Traceability as a Service (TaaS), developed and promoted by CTIA, and introduced the concept of potential projects that utilize TaaS. This message was communicated to nearly 200 attendees at the main venue and via on-demand video streaming.

At BBE2020 domestic and foreign blockchain companies and industry pioneers took the stage

This event is a follow-up to last year’s UnblockTokyo, a series of events held by Binary Star, Inc. aimed at matching blockchain companies with the “customers,” “users,” and “investors” needed to grow their businesses. Such an event aims to further enhance networking opportunities through activities that directly connect companies working on blockchain with companies driving the industry.

In the first part of the event, Mr. Naokazu Takemoto, former Minister of IT Policy, addressed the audience, saying “IT startups, especially blockchain companies, have the potential to change society in a big way”, and expressed his hope and enthusiasm for this event to support IT startups and help their future business development.

This year, in order to counter the Coronavirus, the speeches were delivered via on-demand video streaming, with leading domestic and international blockchain companies and projects introducing case studies and practical products in six groups.

A tailwind for creating blockchain business

29 domestic and international companies took the stage at the event and introduced their products and systems. Currently, the use cases for blockchain are not limited to the crypto asset industry but range from trade, manufacturing, logistics, information security, regulatory compliance to gaming.

The event brought together leading projects and companies that are approaching the second half of Seed rounds to speak to the audience with an eye toward solving industry challenges that can only be solved with blockchain. This event also offered chances at building cross-border relationships between the blockchain community, celebrities, and experts, and for establishing a cross-industry information sharing system, which is expected to create more business.

CTIA projects gathered attention from attendees

As a speaker at the event, CTIA CEO Tezuka also took the stage online, live from Singapore.

The session, titled “Solutions to Improve Transparency and Security in the Supply Chain,” introduced CTIA’s Traceability as a Service and described the projects currently underway to build services in collaboration with several companies. In Japan, there is an urgent need for blockchain-based public-private partnership projects and digital transformation (DX) in government.

CTIA is also developing its business with an eye on various trends— electric power services such as microgrids; electronic contract document services; and projects in collaboration with local governments that promote the SDGs.
